The New Haven Elementary School Service Leaders were in charge of most of the show. They made posters to advertise, organized acts, sold concessions, acted as emcees, and collected money at the door. Miranda Yarborough, one of the emcees and a service leader herself, stated, “I thought the Talent Show was really great, and I thought we had a lot of wonderful acts. I know I enjoyed emceeing it, and I think everyone really enjoyed themselves.”
Singing performances included Morgan Law singing “Do You Want To Build A Snowman?”; Izzy Hale and Jaydice Gerlt sang “Steal My Girl” by One Direction; Grace Rulo sang “Blank Space”; Marilyn Jerray sang “Fireflies”; Alayna Lagemann and Payton Hector sang “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”; Sisters Aaliyah and Rihanna Bates performed “You Are The Music In Me”; Kyra Mantel and Brande Kubiak sang “My Boyfriend’s Back; and Makenzie Giger sang “Let It Go.”
Gymnastics performers were Ava Oelrichs and a duet of Grace Farris and Claire Barnhart. Zoey Schwab and Elizabeth Jenkins told jokes; Gracie Steele and two of her friends not attended NHES performed a Puppet Show titled, “Murder Mystery.” Members of the 6th grade band--Madison Langenberg, Matthew Otten, Chloe Luekenhoff, Logan Senecal, Sheny Delgado, Casey Baker, and Alaina Scott--played “Calypso Morning.”
All money raised at the Talent Show will be donated to the Elementary School Playground fund. This project has been going on for more than 2 years now, and almost all the funds have been raised. The PTO at New Haven Elementary School has been a big supporter of this project. Bethany White, an active member of this organization, said, “The talent show was a great help to this fund. Between this event and another event held by the 5th and 6th graders, $322.25 was raised. We are very excited about these new funds for our project!”
Mrs. Meyer was very proud of all the students’ bravery to perform. “It takes a great deal of courage to get up in front of a group of people and talk, sing, or perform. All of our students did an excellent job and the audience loved them.”
