One month ago, on Saturday, March 28th, four New Haven students went to choir districts to sing in hopes to go to state; they all made it.
The choir members were freshman Britany Willimann, sophomore Anna Miller, sophomore Nicki Zeitzmann, and sophomore Hanna Fitts. Britany and Anna both took solos, and Anna, Hanna, and Nicki took at trio.
For Anna, this was her second year attending state. “Last year I was the only person who went to state, so I thought it was a lot more fun this year, since I got to be with my friends.” Anna described.
The trio’s songs were “She Sings” and “Irish Ballad.” Anna’s solos were “Clorinda” and “Per a la Gloria.” Britany’s songs were “Sebben Crudele” and “Whispering Hope.”
The rating system is that the singer or singers will be awarded a number between one and five, with one being the best score, and five being the worst. Anna got a two rating, which is the second best rating a singer can get at the contest. The trio of Anna, Hanna and Nicki also got a two rating. Lastly, Britany was awarded a three rating for her solos.
Britany explained, “My favorite parts of the day were driving around looking for somewhere to stop for food and listening to the other soloists.”
“I think the day went really well and the girls all performed their best.” Choir teacher, Mrs. Taylor stated.
All in all, the girls had a good time and sang their very best.
