On Wednesday, October 9, the New Haven softball team won against Valley Park 10-2.
The starters were Madison Langenberg, Meagan Holtmeyer, Mackenzie Wilson, Brande Kubiak, Lexi Sidwell, Emilee Hinten, Ryan Stutzman, Brenna Langenberg, and Jessica Underwood. The alternates were Kate Dittberner and Lindsey Steinbeck.
Ryan Stutzman pitched a total of 118 pitches during the game.
Junior Madison Langenberg hit a beautiful triple between left and center field. Sophomore Mackenzie Wilson hit a hard grounder, past shortstop. Junior Emilee Hinten hit a bunt right on the first baseline and got senior Lexi Sidwell home.
Senior Meagan Holtmeyer caught three pop-ups between second base and center field. Junior Brande Kubiak made a quick play from shortstop and threw a girl out at first. Sophomore Ryan Stutzman caught a short pop-up from the pitcher's mound and threw a girl out at first, making two outs.
Spectators say that the girls were on their A-game that night.
The girls were asked how they did as a team and Meagan Holtmeyer said, “I think we did well last night. We hit the ball and had some amazing plays.”
The girls were also asked how they hit that night and Madison Langenberg said, “I hit well and got a triple during the game.”
Coach Peirick commented, “We played excellent defense and hit the ball well, which leads to good plays and wins.”
