The first day of fall was Saturday, September 22. Since then, New Haven has been enjoying some cool weather. With the cool weather finally with us, all of the fall activities and favorites kick in for the students of NHHS.
A recent survey was sent out to discuss various fall favorites, to inquire about favorite activities during this season, and to see what students think of the pumpkin spice trend.
Senior Kamryn Poe listed all of her favorite things about fall: “Everything. It's fall, y'all. It's the most wonderful time of the year. What's not to love? Sweatshirts, pumpkins, Thanksgiving, pie, and Halloween all in one season. I love it.”
Joseph Rethemeyer, senior, says his favorite thing about fall is Deer Season.
Destiney Quick, freshman, commented, “I love going out to my farm and riding four wheelers and gators in all of our fields. I also enjoy the temperature change because it's sweatshirt weather. I also really enjoy watching the leaves turn colors.”
Senior Makenzie Munsinger said, “My favorite thing about fall is seeing the leaves change colors and drinking hot chocolate.”
Lexy Sidwell, junior, commented on her favorite activity: “My favorite activity to do during fall is to go to haunted houses and pumpkin patches.”
Junior Lauralie Grater responded with, “It’s really not an activity, but I love to have family and friends sit around a campfire and talk. I just love when everyone is together.”
The pumpkin spice flavor trend has been a big hit for a couple years now. You can get from pumpkin spice lattes to pumpkin spice cereal and even pumpkin spice pretzels. It's everywhere. So when the students were asked about the trend and what they think about it, it was half and half. Half of them love it, and the other half is not a fan.
Senior Lexi Oetterer said, “I love pumpkin spice; it doesn't matter the time of the year. Although, in the fall, Starbucks has their pumpkin spice drinks, and I love them!”
Freshman Miranda Yarbrough responded with, “I'm not very big on pumpkin in general, but if it makes other people happy, so be it-- as long as it isn't shoved in my face, we're good. I'm more of a spiced chai or toasted marshmallow mocha girl though.”
Fall seems to be a very popular season around here. Keep enjoying fall, New Haven!
