December 15 is the date of the Winter Ball Coronation for NHHS. It is going to be held between the Junior Varsity and Varsity boys basketball games.
The candidates for the freshman class are Maya Wideman and Rylan Ball. Sophomore candidates are Natalie Pecaut and Demetri Pataky. Grace Soete and Joseph Rethemeyer are the candidates for the junior class, and finally, Emma Engelbrecht and Jason Kubiak are the senior candidates.
According to the candidates, only one person does not think he/she will win. However, one candidate said, “We will see.” It’s all up to the New Haven High School students to decide.
Demetri Pataky, sophomore candidate, was asked if he was surprised that he was picked to be a candidate, and he responded with, “No, because everyone told me they were going to pick me before we voted for candidates.”
Grace Soete, junior candidate, responded, “Yes, I was surprised because you usually hear people talking about who they're going to vote for and I never heard my name.”
Maya Wideman, freshman candidate, was asked if she is nervous for the coronation, and she commented with, “No. I'm not really nervous. When it comes to being the center of attention, I'm all ears.”
Emma Engelbrecht, senior candidate, said, “I am kind of nervous because I'm pretty clumsy so I'm worried about wearing heels and a long dress.”
Winter Ball is just around the corner! Start thinking, NHHS, about who should be your Winter Ball King and Queen. Good luck to all of the Winter Ball candidates!
