With summer vacation coming to a close on August 15th, there are plenty of Shamrocks that are bummed, along with several of them who are excited to be back. And to test this, a survey was sent out to the students of New Haven High and a large number of responses were received. Here are some of the responses reflecting on their summers.
When asked how they felt about summer being over, a large number of people said they were sad about it.
Junior Chloe Kearney said, “Sad that I can’t sleep in anymore.”
Jacob Alvarez also said he was “depressed” about summer being over.
There were also a few people who said they were excited for a new year at New Haven High.
Junior Alyssa Sidwell said, “I don’t like summer, so I feel great.”
Sophomore Grace White said, “[I’m] happy, but sad at the same time.”
Freshman Jessica Underwood said, “It’s whatever, I don’t really mind it.”
There were also people who said they weren’t exactly happy about school starting up, but they were excited for sports and other school activities.
Freshman Dominick Cox said that he “loves summer, but can’t wait for baseball season to start, and to see all [his] friends.”
Another question that was asked was if people did anything crazy over the summer. There were a lot of basic responses like “Yes,” and “No, not really.” But there were also some people that gave more detailed responses.
Sophomore Destiney Quick went ziplining with her cousin in Branson, and she said, “It was the sketchiest thing ever.”
Junior Alyssa Sidwell said she went to FBLA nationals over the summer and went camping for two weeks in Tievoli.
The last question asked was what people were excited for this school year and even next summer. Many people said they couldn’t wait for sports and band to get started.
For the most part, it sounds like there were mixed feelings about the start of a new year, but according to many, this year is going to be a good one that people will remember.
