On Monday, February 6, 2019, the New Haven Shamrocks girls basketball team played against the Hermann Bearcats at Hermann High School. After a very close and hard-fought game, the JV girls fell to Hermann that night with a score of 38-36. The Varsity girls also fought and fell to Hermann with a score of 58-30.
The athletes were asked how they felt their team played. “Better than we played them in the South Callaway Tournament,” answered Varsity athlete Ellie Westermeyer.
Varsity athlete Hannah Rethemeyer answered, “We didn’t play [badly], but we need to work on getting to the other end of the court in order to stop the ball faster.”
JV athlete Casey Baker said, “We played [well]-- we just need to work on going after the ball.”
They were then asked what their thoughts on the game were.
JV athlete Grace Faris replied, “It was a tough game that was very close.”
“I wish we could've scored more points,” answered Varsity athlete Ellie Westermeyer.
The last question asked was if there was anything they feel their team needs to work on for their upcoming games.
“Rebounding and our defense,” answered JV athlete Grace Faris.
Varsity athlete Ellie Westermeyer said, “Getting back on defense.”
Keep working, Shamrocks, on the rest of your season!
