Everyone is familiar with El Ranchito, located near the Ice Cream Shoppe in New Haven. Well, this Halloween, El Ranchito will be having its very own pumpkin-carving contest beginning and ending on Thursday, the 31st. The cooks, waiters, and waitresses will all be competing against each other to carve a pumpkin which will be judged by the people of New Haven. They were all asked how they feel about being in the contest and what they plan on doing.
Jacob Alvarez, sophomore, stated, “I plan on trying my best to win the contest, and hopefully my pumpkin will turn out the way I like it.”
Kresha Reichel, waitress, commented, “I think it’s a great idea to have this to get all us workers together to do something fun other than just work.”
Rylan Ball, junior, said, “I’m really pumped and hyped to be in the contest. I think that I have two very good competitors, so I am going to have to step my game up.”
Graham Hill, cook, responded by saying, “I don’t know for sure what I am going to make just yet but I hope I can come up with something cool.”
When asked what they plan on doing for the pumpkin-carving contest and if they think they could win, Jacob Alvarez responded with, “I’m going to try my hardest but I don’t think I’ll win. But if I do then that would be cool.”
“I’m not sure if I would win as we have a lot of talented workers! I am excited to see everyone’s artistic natures though!” replied Kresha Reichel.
Rylan Ball stated, “I think that I can push myself to the top and come up with something that people will like.”
“I’m not sure if I’ll win but at least I tried,” responded Graham Hill.
It looks like New Haven is in for a surprise this Halloween. Good luck to all the El Ranchito staff members, and may the best pumpkin win!
