National Honor Society, NHS, hosted its last meeting of the 2017-2018 school year on Friday, May 11. They celebrated finishing the school year with an annual Ice Cream Social held at the city park.
Members of NHS brought various toppings and other sweet treats for everyone to enjoy. These toppings included whipped cream, candy, and chocolate syrup. Mrs. Oelrichs, the NHS sponsor, provided the members with vanilla and chocolate ice cream.
This event is held each year to celebrate various things, such as welcoming the new inductees this year and saying goodbye to the seniors who are graduating. The Ice Cream Social is a nice way for members to end the school year and get to know the new members for the club.
Before the Ice Cream Social, Grace Soete was asked what she was most looking forward to. She simply stated, “Free ice cream. Duh.”
Kamryn Poe said she was looking forward to all the delicious toppings that would be at the Ice Cream Social.
Kenzie Bauer said, “Anyone who knows me knows my favorite food is ice cream. And to get to eat and spend time with the other members is going to be fun.”
The NHS members had a wonderful time in the park, eating ice cream and spending the last few days of school with their classmates. They were all in agreement that this was a great way to wrap up the school year.
