Jerome "Jerry" P. Carey, 53, of New Haven, MO, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019 at his home. Jerry was born in Washington, Missouri on May 26, 1965, a son of Thomas Albert & Irma L. (Blaue) Carey. He was the husband of Lisa (Unnerstall) Carey. They were united in marriage on August 17, 1996, in Leslie, Missouri. Jerry was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Port Hudson, Missouri. He worked for Hecla-Greens Creek Mining, of Juneau, Alaska. Jerry was an outdoorsman. He loved living in Alaska and enjoying nature there. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, farming, and processing meat and making sausage. But he mostly loved spending time with his family. Jerry is survived by his wife Lisa, who survives at their home, his mother, Irma Carey, of Leslie, Missouri, two sons, Felix Mesger & wife Christina, of New Haven, Missouri; and Joshua Mesger, of St. Louis, Missouri; a daughter, Sarah McQueen & husband Sean, of Huffman, Texas; by four sisters, Theresa Busch & husband John, of Morrison, Missouri; Evelyn LaBoube & husband Vernon, of Berger, Missouri; Carol Scheer & husband Kevin, of New Haven, Missouri; and Linda Beste & husband Neal, of New Haven, Missouri; a brother, Michael Carey & wife Mary, of Leslie, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Betty Unnerstall, of Union, Missouri; by his grandchildren, Clara, Hannah, Mya Jo, Barrett, Sydney, Sadie, August, & Oliver; by two brothers-in-law, Robert Unnerstall & wife Terry, of Gerald, Missouri; and Randy Unnerstall & wife Rhonda, of Washington, Missouri; by three sisters-in-law, Debbie Winters & husband Dennis, of New Haven; Cheryl Uffmann & husband Bob, of Washington; and Pam Fisher & husband Roger, of Columbia, Missouri; and by many nieces, nephews, and great niece & nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, a son Stuart Blankenship, a sister, Judy Carey, and a brother, F. Tom Carey. Visitation will be held Friday, March 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, a memorial mass will follow Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Church, Port Hudson, with Father Jim Foster officiating.
