Now that the 2018-2019 school year is in full swing, we have many new faces in the halls. Most of these are the freshmen that are now in the high school halls and not in middle school.
A survey was sent out to the freshmen to ask them how they are transitioning, what their favorite thing about high school is so far, and what they would change if they could.
Emily Delgado commented: “The hardest thing about transitioning is remembering to do your homework the day it was assigned. That has been the hardest because I almost forget to do it the day before it's due.”
Ashley Beckmann is a new student to this school, and she said, “The hardest thing for me is just getting used to having a higher expectation, since I was homeschooled for 3 years. I came back to public school for high school and I am still trying to get used to the crowded halls.”
Destiney Novotney’s favorite thing about high school is “getting to see more of my friends that are either sophomores, juniors, and seniors.”
Charlie Roth said his favorite thing about high school is the block scheduling.
Emma Rohlfing has thoughts about changing the school: “I would change the hallways because walking all the way down to the end of the hallway and back can be hard. ...People will stop in front of you to talk to someone or they will walk really slow, and me having long legs, it is hard for me to shorten my stride. It also gets really hot at the end of the hallway by the freshmen lockers.”
Carter Moeckli agrees-- he said he would give the high school wider hallways.
It sounds like the freshmen are transitioning pretty well into high school. Hopefully it stays this good for them. Have a good rest of the school year, freshmen!
