Four Rivers is the Career Center in Washington, MO. If you have not been there, many schools offer curricula that allow select students to attend for part of the day and learn a trade. Some students go for Informational Technology, while others might go for Auto Tech. There are many different classes that Four Rivers offers for the schools that attend.
Demetri Pataky is a junior who is enrolled in Machine Tool-- a class in which students learn basic instructions for precisely using machine tools. When asked what his favorite thing about Four Rivers was, he answered, “Hands-on work and how you can be as creative and artistic as you want.”
Demetri wanted to attend Four Rivers because he is great at making things, and is very creative. He commented, “I love making random parts and tools and just knowing that I made it.” Demetri told me that he loved being able to attend Four Rivers and would love to be able to go again next year.
Parker Gumm is a junior who studies Collision Repair. When asked what his favorite part of Four Rivers was, he replied, “You have more freedom.” At Four Rivers, Parker hopes to get better skills working with cars.
Andrew Rohlfing is a senior who studies Auto Tech. When asked what his favorite thing about Four Rivers was, Andrew commented, “The atmosphere, meeting new friends and people, and also learning new things hands-on.” Andrew decided to attend Four Rivers to help him decide what he wanted to do for a career.
I study Information Technology at Four Rivers. I am a junior, and my favorite part of Four Rivers is making new friends and getting to learn about fixing computers. I wanted to attend Information Technology, because I wanted to explore an option that I was thinking about pursuing in the future for a career.
Many students consider attending Four Rivers to be an amazing opportunity. They get to meet new people and learn a lot of different things.
If you’re interested in attending Four Rivers next year, talk to Mr. Peirick or ask current students about their experiences.
