This parade occurred on Saturday, October 19th and was only the third time this parade has been put on. There were a total of sixteen bands in the 2A class. New Haven came first in the parade overall, first in marching, first in drumline, first in auxiliary, and second in music.
A Google form was sent out to marching band participants in the Southern Boone Parade, asking for their opinions on the parade.
When asked how they thought the band did overall, Ellie Westermeyer, junior, said, “I thought we sounded very [good] and did a nice job on the routine for auxiliary.”
Matthew Otten, junior, commented, “I thought we had some things to improve on but we did [well] overall.”
Casey Baker, junior Drum Major, stated, “We did better than I had expected.”
When asked how they thought the band could improve overall, Keagan Huff, senior, commented, “I think we could most improve on the Texas Turn.”
John Hughes, senior, answered, “I think we need to guide and cover down more to keep our spacing consistent.”
Ellie Westermeyer said, “We need to stay in step more often.”
When asked how their specific section could improve, Matthew Otten stated, “I think the low brass could play a little louder.”
Aside from the low brass, all of the other participants in the survey were pleased with how their sections performed.
Good job to the Marching Shamrocks this week, and good luck to them at MSU on Saturday, October 26th.
