Four Rivers Career Center Teaching Careers student Emily Morrison recently taught a lesson on figurative language to our 7th grade ELA students in Mrs. Nilges's classroom. Emily reviewed common types of figurative language and used engaging examples from popular songs and films. Students worked collaboratively to identify examples in various texts. The lesson was well-organized, interactive, and relevant to students. Emily demonstrated confidence, strong classroom management skills, and thoughtful planning throughout the activity, proving she will make an excellent teacher one day.

He is involved in Track, serves as the NHS Treasurer, is the Scholar Bowl team captain, and is a Section Leader in the Marching Band. He has earned Academic All-Conference honors and was named All-District for the 4x400-meter relay.
Outside of school, Kyle works at Barrett Materials Quarry and Save A Lot, and he is an active member of the Trinity Church youth group. He is currently pursuing his private pilot certificate. Kyle’s favorite subject is math because he finds it highly useful in engineering. After graduation, he plans to become an Air Force officer. Kyle’s teachers describe him as a quiet leader who consistently excels in the classroom. They appreciate his willingness to step outside his comfort zone by applying to the Air Force Academy, an extensive and demanding process in which he has been working diligently. Congratulations, Kyle! Ava Mesey has been selected as the November Student of the Month for New Haven Middle School. Ava is an eighth grader and the daughter of Amy and Josh Mesey. She is an active member of the Outdoors Club, plays basketball and volleyball, and has earned recognition on the B Honor Roll. Ava loves spending time outdoors and enjoys playing sports with her friends. Her favorite school subject is math because she finds it easy to understand and enjoyable to learn. After high school, she hopes to continue her basketball career at the collegiate level.
Ava’s teachers say she has shown remarkable growth this year, both academically and personally. She puts in consistent effort, participates in class, and thinks before she speaks. Her attitude has become more positive, and she treats both peers and teachers with respect. As one of only two eighth graders on the basketball team, Ava demonstrates responsibility and a strong work ethic. She is kind, helpful, and brings a good sense of humor to the classroom. Congratulations, Ava! |
