The New Haven School District No. 138 will accept declarations of candidacy from any resident taxpayer, who is eligible to file for a position on the School Board in the April 8, 2025, election. Persons interested may file at the superintendent’s office located at 100 Park Drive, New Haven, Missouri.
Filing will begin on December 10, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. and will continue during the district’s regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Filing will only be available from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on December 31st . Filing will not occur when the office is closed on December 24 and December 25, 2024. Filing will not occur on days that the district’s offices are closed due to inclement weather. Filing will end on December 31, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. On this day, the office will only be open from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. There are two positions available with three-year terms. Michele Scheer, Secretary Board of Education Lyla Laune is the October Student of the Month for New Haven Middle School. Lyla is a seventh grader. She is the daughter of Tracy and Robert Laune. She is involved in Student Council, and she likes to practice softball and play outside. She has six pets. Her favorite class is PE because she loves sports. Lyla’s teachers report that she works hard and participates in class. She helps others when needed and is friendly and nice. She is always helpful to classmates, strives to succeed, and is so nice and behaves well. Congratulations, Lyla!
Janelle Cronin is the October Student of the Month for New Haven High School. Janelle is a senior. She is the daughter of Christina Diener and Stephen Cronin. She is involved in FBLA as secretary, FCCLA, NHS, Student Council, Cross country, Track and Field, and senior class secretary. Janelle has earned the Academic Activity Award, Cross Country Academic All-Conference and All-State, Track and Field Academic All-Conference, Cross Country and Track and Field Varsity letters, and first and third place in the East Central College fine arts photography contest. Outside of school, she enjoys playing her guitars, running with her dog, hiking, thrifting, traveling, plant shopping, and practicing embroidery and photography. Fall is her favorite season and gyros are her favorite food. After high school, Janelle will attend Northwest Missouri State University. She will major in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. Her goal is to work within the Missouri Department of Conservation as a wildlife biologist or conservation agent. Janelle’s teachers say she is an exemplary student, and they have seen her grow in her confidence and academics these past couple of years. She's a hard-working and intelligent student. She's an amazing writer and always puts 100% effort into her assignments. Whether it's simple assignments, big assignments, or extracurriculars like cross country, National Honor Society, etc. she's very good at setting goals and achieving them. Congratulations, Janelle!
