The annual NHHS Swimming Intramurals were recently held. Congratulations to Hannah Schneider for setting a new butterfly record with a time of 16.51 seconds! She broke the previous record of 16.9 seconds set by Sarah Pehle in 1996.

Weston Hecktor has been named the August Student of the Month at New Haven High School. A junior, he is the son of Tim and Amy Hecktor. Weston is a manager for the cross-country team and also plays basketball and baseball. He has earned Academic All-Conference honors as well as Second Team All-Conference in baseball. Outside of school, Weston works at Seitter’s Market and volunteers at his Catholic church whenever he can. He also enjoys playing golf. His favorite subject is math, a class he enjoys because it comes naturally to him. This year, Weston has taken on the role of cross-country manager, offering his support even though he is not competing himself. Before the season began, he was already helping with time trials, assisting coaches, and motivating teammates. Known for his positivity and teamwork, Weston is a reliable leader and teammate. He also excels in the classroom, showing respect, kindness, and active engagement with his peers. Congratulations, Weston!
Dakota Eickhorst has been named the August Student of the Month for New Haven Middle School. He is the son of Daniel and Sandy Eickhorst. Dakota is active in Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, Outdoors Club, Band, and Track. He has received the Tradition of Excellence Award in band, as well as Academic Achievement Awards in Social Studies, English, Science, and Health during seventh grade. Outside of school, Dakota enjoys hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors, and occasionally playing video games. His favorite sport is football, and his favorite subject is math because he finds it the easiest to understand. His teachers describe him as kind, hardworking, and intelligent. Dakota is a role model to his peers, always willing to help classmates and teachers. Though quiet, he leads by example and is not afraid to stand up for what is right. He puts great effort into everything he does, both inside and outside of the classroom, making him most deserving of this honor. Congratulations, Dakota!
