By LeeAnna Linton On Thursday, May 5, the New Haven Shamrocks baseball team had their last regular season home game against the St. Clair Bulldogs. The game took place at the American Legion baseball field, 4:30 PM. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Gov. The budget includes historic investments in services for Missourians with developmental disabilities, mental illness and substance use disorders, increasing state and federal funding for the Department of Mental Health by more than $200 million.

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reminds them that the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, May 28, marks the opening of both squirrel season statewide and catch-and-keep bass season in most streams south of the Missouri River. O’FALLON, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reports that James Lucas of O’Fallon became the most recent record-breaking angler in Missouri when he caught a hybrid striped bass on the Mississippi River. Keven McDowell has been named New Haven High School's recipient of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete Award. Keven has competed in cross country the past 3 years and in both basketball and track all 4 years of high school. Keven has lettered at the varsity level all 3 years in cross country, the past 2 years in basketball, and all 4 years in track. He was a key member of the 4th Place Class 1 State cross country teams both his junior and senior years. On the track he has received all-conference honors 3 different times for his role on various relay teams. As a sophomore, his 4x800m relay team garnered 2nd team all-conference honors. He received honorable mention all-conference in the same event. And finally as a senior, his 4x400m relay team won honorable mention honors at the Four Rivers Conference Meet. Academically, Keven ranks 3rd in his class. Keven will receive his award at Busch Stadium on Wednesday, May 18 prior to a St. Louis Cardinals game. Congratulations Keven! The April Student of the Month is junior Brady Kruse. Brady is the son of Kyle and Dena Kruse. He is active in basketball, track, FBLA, NHS, scholar bowl, FCA, and band. Mr. Pruessner commented, “Brady played a big part in the scholar bowl team's first place conference finish and second place district finish. He set a really good example to the rest of the team by studying on his own, learning new material, and having a positive attitude about improving as a player. This helped him to get both an All-Conference and All-District medal individually. Brady also sets a good example academically for his fellow students and is involved in numerous school activities at which he excels.” In the future, Brady plans to attend a four-year university to study computer science. Congratulations Brady! JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Gov. Jay Nixon today voted as Chairman of the Board of Public Buildings to approve the public sale to Bank of America Merrill Lynch of $100 million in Series A 2016 Special Obligation Bonds to provide continued support to Build Missouri, the statewide capital improvements initiative which funds repairs and renovations at state facilities, veterans homes, state parks and higher education campuses. The recent reaffirmation of Missouri’s AAA credit ratings by national credit rating agencies helped ensure an interest rate of 2.28 percent over the life of the bonds.

Net general revenue collections for April 2016 decreased by 4.6 percent compared to those for April 2015, from $1.26 billion to $1.21 billion. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – As part of an ongoing review of Senate Bill 586, Gov. Jay Nixon today issued a statement regarding the projected local impact of legislation that would cut the K-12 foundation formula. Senate Bill 586 would cut the target to fully fund Missouri’s K-12 foundation formula by approximately $418 million. The projections from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education show the amount districts would receive annually under full funding of the current formula compared to the amount they would receive under the lowered target called for by Senate Bill 586.
