As most of us know, high school can be a mix of good and bad. Those four years will be some of the best and worst years of a student’s life, but what everyone needs to remember is it is what each person makes of it. Being a senior comes with a lot of baggage; suddenly we’re the big kids on the block. We’re supposed to be older, wiser, and on top of the high school food chain. For some of us, the hype of being a senior hasn’t quite lived up to its expectations; for others, it’s been the time of their lives! So here’s some great advice for just about any high school students:
“No odds are too great.” Cory Weissman’s life is just one example of this quote. Imagine being a teenage athlete, when suddenly your world comes to a halt, and you are forced to relearn a skill that has been a natural ability since you were only eight years old.
On February 4th, 2015, the New Haven High Student Council held a dodgeball tournament between teams of students and teachers. The teams of students had to be in the same grade and had to include either two girls and three guys or three girls and two guys. The teams also had to come up with a team name, and teams were encouraged to wear a costume that fit with their team name. Then, teams would face off in a double-elimination tournament.
Each year, NHHS’s National Honor Society holds a school-wide food drive. In previous years, individual students competed to turn in the most food, but this year, each grade was working together to bring in more food than the other three grades.
